As a way to celebrate Bauhaus 100, we proposed a workshop were principles such as experimentation and modularity in type design had to be delivered.
We understand modularity as a way to reduce complex systems into a more flexible and dynamic ones. Systems where components can be combined in different ways. The workshop aimed students to create their own modular systems in order to design a typeface to be used in a poster.
Students started from scratch, taking into account some of the Bauhaus experiments in typography. With the help of traditional tools and drawing skills, the workshop focused on basic type design concepts and went further into the complexity of creating an alphabet that would be used to celebrate the Bauhaus 100 years with a poster.
